Christy Nomination
"Valley of the Shadow" is one of the finalists for a 2010 Christy Award in the Visionary category. This very exciting and a great honor as "Vanish" won a Christy last year. The two other finalists in this category are Karen Hancock for "The Enclave" and Jill Williamson for "By Darkness Hid".
Best wishes to Karen and Jill. Here's looking forward to the June 26th ceremony in St. Louis

New Title for 3rd Novel
YIKES!--has it been that long since I've updated my blog?? I think I recall making a new year's resolution back in January 2009 that I would try to update my blog at least once a week. So how's that working out?? Well, you try holding down a full-time day job while raising five kids AND writing a novel! I know, I know... enough with the excuses already. The truth is I never have anything new to report--and who really wants to hear what I think about politics or social issues? I did get some new pictures taken and am in the middle of revamping my website--so hopefully that should be coming up soon.
The other big news is a title change to my pending novel with Tyndale. They expressed some concern that the initial title "The Soul Eater" sounded a little too much like a horror novel. And horror novels don't typically sell well in the CBA market. Makes sense. Besides, I had always had another title in mind that I liked just as much, and Tyndale decided they liked it better. So the new official title of my next novel is "Beckon".
Now you may be wondering what "Beckon" and "The Soul Eater" have in common and the truth is... not much. Except, Beckon is the name of the town that plays a key role in this story. Either way... what's in a title?
