New Title for 3rd Novel

YIKES!--has it been that long since I've updated my blog?? I think I recall making a new year's resolution back in January 2009 that I would try to update my blog at least once a week. So how's that working out?? Well, you try holding down a full-time day job while raising five kids AND writing a novel! I know, I know... enough with the excuses already. The truth is I never have anything new to report--and who really wants to hear what I think about politics or social issues? I did get some new pictures taken and am in the middle of revamping my website--so hopefully that should be coming up soon.

The other big news is a title change to my pending novel with Tyndale. They expressed some concern that the initial title "The Soul Eater" sounded a little too much like a horror novel. And horror novels don't typically sell well in the CBA market. Makes sense. Besides, I had always had another title in mind that I liked just as much, and Tyndale decided they liked it better. So the new official title of my next novel is "Beckon".

Now you may be wondering what "Beckon" and "The Soul Eater" have in common and the truth is... not much. Except, Beckon is the name of the town that plays a key role in this story. Either way... what's in a title?

Hello, I am an avid reader and a Media Coordinator. I love Peretti and just discovered Dekker not too long ago. I read a lot of Christian Fiction and sometimes walk away scratching my head. However, I just finished reading both of your books (took me 2 days) and I must say that I LOVED LOVED LOVED them. I am just bummed that I have to wait for another to be published!! I am looking forward to your 3rd book. Peretti is my favorite Christian author and you have just moved up the bookshelf to sit next to his novels.

Thank you.

That's so dissapointing. The title is great, actually. It's just the reason they wanted the change.

I've not read your second book, but I DID read and enjoy the first. Some might have appreciated the suspense, and of course I did as well (suspense is a must). But the elements of horror are what drew me in.

Hate to see such discouraging ratings for Christian horror. I appreciate the likes of you, Dekker, and Peretti, for bringing it as close as possible for folks like me who like a little spirituality with their chills.

Blessings.
